House Gutted by Monday Morning Fire

See the house fire in the 1800 block of Avenue D in Muleshoe on the morning of November 12, 2018, that destroyed all of the belongings of Jose and Lorena Mesa and their three children. Monetary donations for the family can be taken to any AimBank location and deposited to the Lorena Mesa Benefit account. Clothing, linens, kitchen appliances, furniture etc… can be donated at K&K Pharmacy, 1411 West American Blvd, or each campus of the Muleshoe schools will take your items. See the Muleshoe City Council Meeting held on November 12, 2018, at City Hall in Muleshoe, Texas, where local veterans were honored at the first of the meeting. Items on the agenda: 1. Approval of Minutes a. Council Meeting October 8, 2018. 2. Consider reimbursement of receipts from Kenzi Green for the 2018 Muleshoe Merry Market from Hotel/Motel Tax Funds. 3. Consider Resolution R-743-1118 Canvassing returns of the City Special Election held on November 6, 2018. 4. Consider Resolution No. R-744-1118 designating the city’s official newspaper. 5. Receive Financial Statement for the month ending October 31, 2018. 6. Administrative Reports: a. Work continues on the ground storage tank project. b. The City of Muleshoe Police Department held their first “Coffee with a Cop” on October 24th at McDonalds. c. Muleshoe EDC will be hosting a Leadership Muleshoe on the morning of November 15th. Matty McLain will offer “Getting Things Done” and Slater Elza will offer a session on Employment Law. d. The city will hold its annual Christmas Luncheon on Wednesday, December 5th at noon at the City of Muleshoe Training Facility. e. Shorty Flores, an employee of the Muleshoe Area Public Library, has announced her retirement and will be honored with a reception at the library on Thursday, December 20th from 3-4p.m. She began full time employment at the library on October 1, 1993. f. The Muleshoe Chamber of Commerce will have the tree lightning on Saturday, November 24th at the Muleshoe Memorial form 6-8p.m. That day is also “Shop Local Saturday” that kicks off “Shop the Shoe”. g. The Muleshoe Chamber of Commerce Christmas Parade will be held on the evening of December 15th.
